How We Define Proper Leadwork

Of paramount importance is the quality of the work that we produce.

Whilst our work may carry some added flair, the underlying approach is disciplined, methodical and rooted in compliant leadwork practice.

Lead Lads® is built around the belief that leadwork should be properly designed, properly detailed and properly installed. That means paying close attention to thermal movement, bay sizing, substrate preparation, detailing and workmanship at every stage.

We follow the principles set out within BS 6915, recognised Lead Sheet Association guidance and the wider body of industry knowledge relating to the correct use of rolled lead sheet in roofing applications.

Leadwork Standards

BS 6915:2001+A1:2014

The principal code of practice underpinning the appropriate use of lead sheet in roofing and cladding applications.

The Importance of Correct Material Supply

Good workmanship depends on good materials.

It is critical that the lead used within our work is manufactured to BS EN 12588. Consistency in material quality is essential if the finished leadwork is to perform as intended over the long term.

Good leadwork is not simply about appearance. Rolled lead sheet must be manufactured, handled, selected and detailed correctly if it is to perform properly throughout its service life.

We maintain a controlled and quality-led approach to sourcing lead sheet and associated items so that appropriate standards are maintained throughout the supply chain.

BS EN 12588

The benchmark for the quality and specification of rolled lead sheet used in roofing and cladding applications.
